Rotarians in the Spotlight: PlayPort



MANY Rotarians have been instrumental in the development of the new PlayPort at Waterfront Park, which opened last month, especially Michael Norman, CEO of the Kentucky Science Center. 

Waterfront Park and Kentucky Science Center partnered to create a free outdoor experiential learning area for kids of all ages and abilities, with large-scale construction equipment, that pays homage to the Ohio River’s rich cultural and industrial heritage with authentic artifacts converted to play structures. PlayPort engages families and stimulates learning, creativity, collaboration, critical thinking, and imagination. Educational signage is integrated within the interactive exhibits, which includes graphics, educational content on how the exhibits work, play prompts, and QR codes that lead to videos developed by the Kentucky Science Center showing science concepts through simple hands-on activities.
