Rotarians bicycle riding 1500 Miles to End Polio Now

Rotarians and friends from Mexico, USA and elsewhere are riding their bicycles 1,500 miles from Juarez, Mexico to Evanston, Illinois to raise money to End Polio Donations.

One of the things many Rotarians love about Rotary, is the international flavor of its membership and projects.

Some of our older Rotary members can recall a childhood where getting Polio was one of there greatest health fears. Thanks to Dr. Salk, polio has been eliminated in most of the world. However, Polio's return is only a plane ride away from countries like Pakistan and Afghanistan where polio is still endemic. We need to totally eliminate the disease worldwide to assure no one anywhere in the world ever gets the disease again.

Please join us in donating to this effort. While we personally may not be riding the 1500 miles Juarez to Evanston, we could be donating for every mile we ride on the treadmills, stationary bikes and other equipment we use to stay healthy between now and July 31at when the ride below ends.

More Miles - Less Polio! -  In an effort to raise funds for Rotary's #1 Priority, the Eradication of Polio, fellow Rotarian, PDG Felipe-Meza is leading a bicycle ride which left from Juarez, Mexico on July 19, 2024 to arrive at the Rotary Headquarters in Evanston, Illinois 12 days later on July 30, 2024.  At least one member has donated and he invites you to join him!  Please donate at the Raise for Rotary Link  https://raise.rotary.org/Felipe-Meza/challenge  to support this event.  Your donation will go directly to The Rotary Foundation for Polio Eradication.  Your donation will be credited to your account and your club and District will receive credit for it.  You are invited to ride along for any distance on the route shown below.  Or, you could do what one of our members did, make a donation for every mile you will ride on your own bike, stationary bike or treadmill between now and July 31, 2024.

Share this with your non-Rotary friends and invite them to "ride" with us.
