The Albemarle Area United Way Outreach Director Lorri Barrett shared United Way mission and how they partner with organizations in the Albemarle area to achieve that mission.

Serving Bertie, Camden, Curritck, Dare, Gates Hertford, Pasquotank & Perquimans counties in North Catolina, they partner with over 34 other organizations to improve local lives.

United Way, through its generous donors, volunteers and partners, provides a broad range of financial support services to make our world better for adults, children and families. 

Through partnerships with the Community Care Collaborative they focus on education, financial stability, health and wellness.

Some of their partners include American Red Cross, 4-H, Boy Scouts of America, Catholic Charities, Community Care Clinic of Dare, Habitat for Humanity, Girl Scout Council, Special Olymics, YMCA (Outer Banks, Albemarle & Carrituck, OBX Room at the Inn and the UMC Emergency Food Center.

The Albemarle Area United Way is a non-profit organization that improves residents' lives in the rural counties of northeastern North Carolina through a coordinated response that includes fundraising, certifying agencies, supporting programs, assessing needs and serving as an information and referral service.

The key to United Way's initiative is NC 2-1-1, resource hoteline for housing, food, healthcare, utilities, disaster assistance, caregiving and more.
