Loganville Rock Gym Park Project
Last spring the Mayor of Loganville, Skip Baliles, approached the club about a small project for the city. It seems there was an area by the Rock Gym that could use some attention.

The Rock Gym is used by the city for many events and along the side of the building was a green space that was often used for pictures. Because of the various utility connections, the backdrop wasn't super attractive.

The first step was to get some expert advice. We reached out to a fellow Rotarian, Susan Sykes, from the Monroe club because her husband, Jason Sykes, is a professional landscaper. He volunteered his time to provide a concept that was approved by the city. His company is New Roots Landscaping. If you have a need, we highly recommend his services and are grateful for the donation of his time. https://nrlga.com/

With a design in hand, we needed a project plan and budget. Working with Loganville City Councilman Branden Whitfield the club created a list of materials needed and a rough budget. Ultimately, it was determined that the city had the budget and people with special skills for the clearing and moving of the large items and the club would help with some of the support aspects.

In August, the city did the major renovations while the club procured the benches and finishing items for staining, and of course, the labor.

In September, a couple of club members showed up to stain the benches and put them in place prior to the Battle of the Bands event.

This past weekend, more members showed up to finish the staining of the arbor and hanging the solar lights just in time for this weekend's Autumn Fest.

The club is proud of this joint project and appreciates being included by public leaders. Kudos to the club members that dedicated their time to making this happen for our city.
