Happy New Year! Welcome to 2023. I hope that everyone had an opportunity to spend time with loved ones and friends during the holidays. We are now officially half-way through the 2022-2023 Rotary year. This is a good time to review goals set by the club for membership growth and engagement, service projects, Foundation giving, fundraising, leadership development, etc. and make sure you are on-track to meet those goals. If your club has not set goals, there is still time to do that. Be sure to enter and update club goals in Rotary Club Central (RCC). Your Assistant Governor can help you get logged in and know where to enter/update the goals.
During the second half of this year, I will continue to visit clubs. If your club hasn’t scheduled a date for my DG visit, please email me. I want to visit all Rotary and Rotaract Clubs in the district before the end of the year. Other activities during the second half of the year include the district Mid-Year Conference (Jan 27-28) which is an update on what is going on in our clubs and the district, MSPETS and AGI training (Mar 16-18) to prepare incoming club presidents and Assistant Governors for next year, and the Joint District Conference at Perdido Beach (April 27-30). A special highlight for this year is the International Peace Conference which will be held in Birmingham May 4-6.
As you can tell from this list of events, there is still much to be accomplished during the second half of the year. I encourage every Rotarian in the district to become fully engaged in your club and in these district activities that are held to bring together Rotarians to learn, share and have fun. Together, let’s Imagine Rotary!
Regards,
Carol Argo
Governor

International Peace Conference 2023
Rotary International District 6860(North and Central Alabama), in partnership with The Birmingham Civil Rights Institute, and the Institute for Human Rights at the University of Alabama Birmingham, presents the 2023 International Peace Conference (IPC). IPC will bring together people from across our nation and the globe to highlight the pursuit of peace at all levels of society. Hosted in Birmingham, Alabama, wherein 1963 nonviolent protesters for equality and racial justice changed history.
This two-day immersive experience will bring together Rotarians and non-Rotarians and distinguished leaders in academia, government, public safety, religion, business, and community service to share ideas and propose solutions to some of society’s most complex challenges. Programs and approaches that are already making a positive impact will be highlighted.
