District Governor Leadership Changes

Please see the letter below from Carol Argo explaining the transition of District 6860's Vice Governor to District Governor as outlined by Rotary International's governing documents.

Dear District Leadership and Club Presidents,

DG Mike Wade asked me to notify you of his decision to step down as District Governor. This decision was not made lightly and was in consultation with his medical team. Mike contacted me, as Vice Governor, to discuss his decision and determine how to move forward with notifying RI and the district. The transition of leadership has been filed appropriately with Rotary International and I will complete the 2022-2023 year as governor for District 6860.

I will work with Mike over the next couple of weeks to transition duties/responsibilities. I plan to carry out Mike’s goals and plans for the year to the extent possible. Please continue the good work that you are doing as a district or club leader.

AG Coordinator/AGs – Please look for an email from me or AG Coordinator Sharon Hogg in the next week to schedule a Zoom meeting for us to meet and discuss working with your clubs.

Club Presidents - I will be reaching out to you to schedule club visits (which may include participation in a service project, fundraising or social event, or make a traditional club visit). If you have already scheduled a DG visit for your club, please let me know asap. I will try to meet those commitments Mike has made as my schedule allows.

District Leadership (district officers and committee chairs) – I will be reaching out to each of you to discuss your various responsibilities and obtain an update on where you are with your specific goals and plans for the year.

Don’t hesitate to contact me by email
or phone (205-540-5614) if you have questions.

You may share this information with Rotarians in your clubs and the district to inform them of the change of governor for the remainder of this year. There is no change in the district governor line.  Mary Grace Evans continues as District Governor Elect, and David Allgood is District Governor Nominee.

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we make the transition in leadership at the district level. I look forward to working with each of you. Together we will continue to focus on DG Mike’s goals to Imagine Rotary in the areas of membership, giving to The Rotary Foundation, and service projects.

Mike respectfully requests privacy at this time, so please, no phone calls. I am sure he will respond to emails as he is able. Please keep Mike and Judy in your prayers, and send them well wishes.

Sincerely,

Carol
