Friday, April 8, 2022, the Joplin Daybreak Rotary Club met at the Rotary Sculpture Garden at Mercy Park to dedicate the sculpture River Motion, to commemorate our 30th anniversary as a club. In early 2021 Daybreak members Barbara Hicklin, Annette Thurston, Laurie Delano(Club President 2020/2021), Valerie Searcy and Bruce Secrist formed the sculpture committee. The goal originally was to dedicate the sculpture within three years but with the help of our members we were able to add River Motion to Mercy Park in less than a year. Thank You to the following members who helped make this happen: Barbara Hicklin, Laurie Delano, Valerie Searcy, Dan Scott, Annette Thurston, Sandy Hughes, Bruce Secrist, Jake Skoulby, David Weaver, Linda Scorse, Gary Brown, Theresa Kenney, Michael Wischmeyer, Steve Chenault, Brenda Reynolds, Ryan Stanley, Joe Craigmile, Bob Heiniger/Covert Electric and Dale Jansen. We would also like to thank the sculptor, artist Tim Cherry, Jeff Koch for arranging the delivery of River Motion from the foundry in Colorado and Dave Smith (RE Smith Construction) for the installation.
