Many of us were at Common Ground last Friday to participate in a service project that is funded by our Rotary District with a match from our club. We packed goody bags with for the 240 students at Atkins Elementary School. The bags will be delivered to the school to be distributed to the children prior to their Spring break.
Atkins Elementary is an underserved school for children in Pre-K through 5th grade in the Cedar Grove community. There is no active PTA at this school so our club has stepped in for several years to fill that role to some degree. Part of our $4,000 grant money also provides an appreciation breakfast for the staff. They always enjoy that and several of our members have attended that early morning event in the past.
Here are pictures from last week! Thanks to all who participated! Sam brought a guest - a young person (Ella) who needed community service hours. Phil Moon's son Alex also attended and pitched in. Remember that family members, friends, young people are welcome at any of our Common Ground projects.
