BBQ on the River Funds Distributed

At the March 20 meeting our Club presented a check to Dr. Jeffrey Seay and Chandni Joshi from University of Kentucky College of    Engineering Paducah Campus in the amount of $14,200.  Dr. Seay and his team are designing, building and distributing a process to convert  waste plastic trash to a fuel oil that can replace diesel fuel or kerosene. They call this process Trash to Tank (3T).   During the 2018 BBQ on the River event, UK students and Paducah Rotary Club volunteers worked the WKYQ Fried Twinkie and Oreo booth, raising over $12,000 for  this project.  Another $2,000 was donated by Rotarian Ken Wheeler. The project to distribute the 3T Processors in Uganda will be carried out  this summer 2019.

New Members and Membership Campaign

We were happy to welcome two new members to our Club in March.  Cade Foster is Chief Compliance Officer of Jim Smith Contracting.  He and his wife Callie are the proud parents of daughter.  Ben Sirk is an Owner - Realtor, Appraiser and Developer with Sirk & Company Real Estate.  He and his wife Emily are the parents of two daughters.  Ben is a life member of the Eagle Scout Association.  Both Ben and Cade were sponsored by Steve Bright.  We also welcome Rotarian Scott Adair as a transfer from the Murray Rotary Club. Scott is Vice President of Human Resources and Communications with Jackson Purchase Energy.  ** Please remember that between now and May 31 we are having a membership drive and for every new member you bring to our club you will be awarded 200 Paul Harris Fellow points.  At the end of the campaign we will award 750 points to the Rotarian sponsoring the most new members followed by 500 for second place and 250 for third place.  Please don't wait.  Invite prospective new members each week.  It is very important that we keep our club healthy and energized by inviting friends to consider Rotary membership.

Quilt Show Sign Ups in Progress!

Please sign up for a shift during Quilt Week.  The Quilt Show is our largest fundraiser of the year and it supports our commitment to the Community Scholarship Program.  We need full participation from the club to make this event a success. Quilt Show Chair, Barry Smith reports that we are about 53% full.  The Show begins on Tuesday, April 23 and concludes on Saturday, April 27.  We are also seeking a host for our Quilt Show Curators Mary Kerr and Sue Reich.  If you have space and would be willing to help please contact Barry Smith or Denise at the Rotary office.   Please use the link in the weekly email to sign up on-line or sign up at our Wednesday meeting.
