Rotary puts kids and families first

The Rotary Foundation of Jackson County and the Rotary Clubs of Jackson are pleased to announce joint grants to Jackson County Parks and the City of Jackson Parks, Recreation and Grounds Department. These grants will make it possible for area families to enjoy free admission to the new Splash Pad at the Cascades every Friday for the remainder of the summer. The grant will also provide a free summer session at Nixon Water Park on a yet?to?be?determined day in July.

“We were most concerned about children who couldn’t afford the entrance fee not being able to enjoy two of our best local family fun activities," said Rotary Club of Jackson Incoming Treasurer Carolyn Matteson.

Rotary Foundation President Shelly Hendrick Kasprzycki agreed. “The Rotary Foundation of Jackson County and the Rotary Clubs of Jackson wanted to finish the Rotary year with a splash (pun intended). We can’t think of a better way than to help all Jackson families enjoy our Splash Pad every Friday, and a special day at Nixon Water Park.”

Checks totaling $3,100 were issued this week by the Clubs and Foundation.

Rotary Clubs and The Rotary Foundation of Jackson County support many projects involving the county parks and recreation departments, such as the Rotary Bandshell.
