Member Spotlight - John Davis

This month I will turn the spotlight around and will share a little about myself. I joined the  club in July of 2021 after launching my business coaching firm in January. As a business coach with ActionCOACH I knew it was critical to meet local business leaders in order to fulfill my company mission to provide education, skills, and support to business owners committed to business excellence. With that in mind, I am happy to share my experiences with Rotary and the Loganville Rotary Club.

In the first stage of my career, I worked for global manufacturers of commercial food equipment, mostly refrigeration. Spending 30 years in engineering, manufacturing, technical service, marketing, long term strategy and strategic pricing, my network was national and global. As Vice President of Engineering & Marketing for Fortune 100 companies, I spent a good amount of time in airports and hotels working to grow our businesses. For those who have shared that experience, you know that while you are on the road you seldom feel disconnected because you have associates all around the world. However, having relocated here in 2014 my personal connections in Georgia were really only those in my neighborhood and my kids' activities. The Loganville Rotary was a critical first step in getting to know the local business owners and leaders that work to make an impact.

After visiting A LOT of networking groups and other Rotary groups, I had nearly given up on this being the type of organization that would work for me. Then one day I decided to look again and found the Loganville Rotary in my backyard of our new hometown, Grayson. Actually, I knew of it before, but the 7:15 AM start time wasn't my first choice. However, when I went to my 1st meeting I knew this was it. I saw other networking peers and felt an energy that was infectious. Crammed into the back of the IHOP were a bunch of professionals with energy for life and giving. Being part of that was what I was seeking.

After two years, I can share that I have had the opportunity to serve as the Public Image chair and volunteer for projects like the Wing Fling, roadside cleanup, the annual golf outing, and several others. From the public image role I have learned the inner workings of the board and how the club is its own business, working on growth, managing finances, creating culture, and fulfilling a mission to serve the community.

If you are a business leader in and around Loganville, or if you know of one that is motivated and has a giving mindset, then I highly recommend you visit our club. We have expanded into bigger  parts of the IHOP where we meet each Thursday at 7:15 AM. If that isn't a good way for you to start, then look out for our monthly happy hours.

This is a group of people that work hard, have fun, support each other and serve others. I couldn't imagine a more inspiring group of folks to spend my time with.
