Georgia Rotary Student Program

Last week our speaker was Ms. Katheryne Fields, the GRSP Program Director for the Georgia Rotary Clubs. Ms. Fields is also the President Elect of the Griffin Club. Last week she shared some history of the Georgia Rotary Student Program.

During her interesting presentation we learned about William Watt who started the organization in 1946. Mr. Watt's vision was “to promote world peace through understanding through the means of education”. Below are the Mission & Vision of the organization.

MISSION

GRSP provides scholarships to advance cultural understanding and social experiences through friendship, develops potential global leaders, and expands the ideals of Rotary around the world.

VISION

To develop leaders who promote understanding and peace around the world.

Each year, students are brought to Georgia Universities on a host program for countries around the world. The clubs fund the students' education and living while the student funds travel and personal expenses. This past year, the Georgia Rotary Clubs sponsored 44 students that attended 23 different colleges & universities in the state.

In the history of the program there have been 3,731 students from 109 countries.
