Welcome

The Rotary Club of the Torrington & Winsted Areas is the local chapter of Rotary International.  Rotary is a global network of 1.2 million neighbors, friends, leaders, and problem-solvers who see a world where people unite and act to create lasting change – across the globe, in our communities, and in ourselves. Solving real problems takes real commitment and vision. For more than 110 years, Rotary's people of action have used their passion, energy, and intelligence on many sustainable projects. From literacy and peace to water and health, we are always working to better our world, and we stay committed to the end.

The Torrington Club was chartered on April 1, 1920 and shortly thereafter sponsored the Winsted Club which was chartered on April 1, 1921. Since that time, both Clubs supported their communities well and initiated substantial local and world wide projects.  Realizing that we could better serve the local communities and have greater impact internationally, we decided to merge in 2013 and our new combined club continues to have a major impact locally and abroad.   We support local organizations in need and award grants to worthy non-profits.  We bestow scholarships on worthy college-bound students and support graduates of vocational programs.  We sponsor the famous Winsted Pet Parade each May, an 82 year tradition, and host a very successful annual Golf Tournament, our sole fund-raiser. We have participated in international relief efforts and additionally have sponsored members who have acted as emissaries and who have represented our club in trips to places such as Haiti, Nepal, Tanzania, and Guatemala where we have provided grants for specific relief projects.

We cordially invite you to become a part of our weekly 12:00 p.m. Tuesday luncheon meetings held at Greenwoods Country Club, 300 Torringford St, Winsted, CT 06098.  Our guest speakers begin their presentation at 12:55 p.m. allowing for questions from attendees. Dismissal after the closing song is 1:30 p.m. Special Note to guest speaker - We will provide you with a high quality screen, a microphone, a projector, and electrical outlets, but bringing your own laptop usually affords the best chance at a trouble-free presentation.  We suggest that you arrive by 11:30 a.m. to set up and test your system. Guest Speakers often stay for a short time after the meeting to answer additional questions or to provide more information.  Please note: Our Club has many guest speakers and it must be noted that having made a presentation to our Club does not suggest that the Torrington - Winsted Area Rotary Club endorses the presenter's views - political or otherwise. The Rotary club doesn't provide an honorarium or reimburse a speaker in any way and a presentation to the club should not be made with an expectation of financial support.
