Loganville Rotary Giving Update

Last week our Foundation Chair, Donna Hill, gave an update on the various giving levels in Rotary and a summary of our club's giving history. The most recognizable is the Paul Harris Fellow, which starts the recognition at the $1,000 level and expands up to the $1,000,000 Legacy Society Level. What's important to know is that it begins with a simple $25 per quarter. While the Rotary is fortunate to have many donors that can and do provide large amounts, the quantity of small amounts makes a difference. After re-educating us on levels, she shared what our club has achieved in the 20 years.

Of our current club of 47 members, 26 are currently Paul Harris Fellow's. It is worth sharing that you do not need to be a Rotarian to be recognized as a Paul Harris Fellow. Of our 27 Paul Harris Fellows, 10 have been recognized for achieving that level multiple times. In total, the Loganville Rotary Club has donated $124,000 to the Rotary Foundation.

Obviously, many would like to know what happens with these donations. These donations are used at a global and local level. Globally, the funds that are pooled to gather and used for projects such as eradicating Polio, clean water, building schools, veterans programs, and the like. Also, the funds are passed back for use on local projects. The most recognizable and longest running program for our club is Rotary Gives Books. Our club donates hundreds of books each year to local schools around the holiday season.

In short, the design of Rotary International allows individuals to contribute in ways both large and small that can make global and local impact. When you are ready to learn about #ServiceAboveSelf then stop by for an upcoming club meeting. We meet on Thursday mornings from 7:15 AM to 8:15 AM.
