Member Spotlight - Ken Strickland

Ken Strickland is in his 21st year as a Rotarian. In his profession, he is the President/Owner of Metro Waterproofing, which has a niche is waterproofing commercial properties. With a focus on high rises and stadiums, they have limited competition. In addition, they are well positioned in both new construction and restoration. This diversification allows them to engage in both growing and shrinking economies.

He joined the Stone Mountain Rotary in October 2001. At the time, he was searching for a place to help serve and give back to the community. During his tenure in the Rotary, he has served in 8 different roles, including President, Vice President, Community Service Director, Interact chair, Fund Raising, Membership Engagement, Vocational Service Chair, and Bulletin Editor.

When discussing the strongest element of his rotary experience, Ken shared that the biggest part by far is giving back to the community.  Some of the projects he recalls are Fill the Bus (school supplies for children in need), Ringing the Bell (Salvation Army, Annandale Village and Park Exercise Equipment, the list went on…

Friendships are a key component of the Rotarian experience. Because of this experience, Ken shared that if he ever needs help he knows the club will be at his side to support him. Ken shared this view, “When you surround yourself with like-minded people and leaders, it helps you grow as an individual. I have learned so much from interacting with the club members.”

Along those lines, Ken commented on how the Rotary can be fun. Admittedly, some clubs can be a bit boring, but the Loganville club has an energy level that is unmatched. He wishes more people knew about the strength of the club and at the core, it is good people that are great leaders that get together to have fun to serve the city, county, state, country, and the world!
