Joplin and Habitat for Humanity Join Forces

 The Joplin Rotary Clubs and the Joplin Habitat for Humanity will hold a groundbreaking ceremony Wednesday, April 25, 2012 at 11:00 am at 2322 Kentucky in Joplin for the Rotary Habitat House.

 The Joplin Rotary Clubs are able to build the house from donations received from Rotarians around the world following the May 22, 2011 tornado. The Clubs also used donation money to help local Rotarians who lost their home or business and helped with some specific needs for local non-profit organizations. 

 Rotarians from District 6110, which covers Missouri, Kansas, Arkansas and Oklahoma, will all help build the house. Rotarians from the district have been active since last summer on projects from cleaning debris to helping teachers prepare classrooms for the fall return to school. 

 The house will belong to a local family who survived the May 22^nd Tornado. The Rotary house family was living in a rental home that was completely destroyed by the tornado. They are currently in FEMA housing near the airport. The family is extremely excited to partner with Joplin Habitat and is grateful because this is their opportunity to become a homeowner.
