Member Spotlight - John Sauers

To truly understand the Loganville Rotary, it is important to know the members. In these member spotlights we will connect with current and former members. This is an opportunity to learn more about them, their rotary experience, and how it is relevant to the club and our community.

For this first session, we connected with John Sauers.
John Sauers was a charter member of the Loganville Rotary Club which started roughly 20 years ago.  As the sole proprietor of Associated Financial Partners, Inc, he served as President (twice), had multiple seats on the board, temporary chef, and meeting busboy. The last role is because we cannot get him to sit still in meetings.

When I asked John about his memorable moments, he recalled building a wheelchair ramp at a local non-profit so wheelchair-bound children could mount and ride horses. Part of the great aspects John shared was seeing members from a variety of professions, including bankers, accountants, lawyers, doctors, and the trades dig in with their hands to do something positive for the community.

We discussed what he was most proud of and he shared these projects:
  • The 1st international project which involved supplying water to a Romanian town.
  • The Huey project which required the modification of a trailer home to allow a resident in a wheelchair to have full movement in the home. His wheelchair did not fit down the hallway, preventing access from the shower.
  • Refurbising the Loganville Mission House
  • Multiple Wing Flings and Golf Outings that generate the funds for local projects.
When discussing the future of the club John is excited about the growth. Adding more members increases the energy available as well as the level of expertise and skills sets that can be applied to the community.

A big thank you to John and all the long time Loganville Rotarians. We will share more over the course of the year.
