New Member Talks

Frank Lee has the unenviable job of recruiting folks for new member talks, but they are always very informative! Shown here: Frank Lee, John Sinderman, and Samuel Kim.

John Sinderman tells the Club he has been in Spartanburg since 1965 after living all over the country for his father's career. They decided they had enough of the moving and make Spartanburg their home. Being involved in music has shaped his life. He's played drums and percussion since 7th grade and dreamed of being a professional musician. Though that dream never materialized, he is still very involved with music having played in many bands and currently performing with the Spartanburg Community Band and the Rutherford Community Band. He married his high school band director's daughter and now owns the company, Pivotal IT, he began working for after playing a gig with the former owner. He and his wife just celebrated 30 years and have three Basset hounds at home.

Samuel Kim took to the stage in his traditional Korean outfit. Samuel says he spent time in 3 places growing up in South Korea: home, school, and church. He dreamed of becoming a preacher like Billy Graham. After serving in the military, he became a youth pastor. He met his wife while at seminary and was ordained as a Baptist pastor. He had plans to start a church in Korea, but his mentor suggested he go see the world first. He and his wife moved to America and he obtained his Masters' degree. He now serves as an officer in the Salvation Army and plays the singing saw as a hobby, a skill he picked up from the Chaplain while he was serving in the military.

We love learning about our members and appreciate the effort they put into their presentations!
