Steps of Hope–Guatemala Featured Speaker Jessalyn Waddell de Mena October 19

Join us at Chef Paolino's on October 19, 2021 at 6:30PM or via Zoom to learn about Steps of Hope–Guatemala, a six-year-old learning and community center located in rural Guatemala. The registered 501(c)(3) charity has continued to thrive - even through the challenges of the COVID era. It serves the children of Santa María de Jesús by empowering them and their families to live abundant lives filled with educational opportunity. Programs include tutoring, school supply donations, language learning, and community outreach efforts like medical and dental care and home improvements.

The center is the creation of Catonsville native Jessalyn Waddell de Mena, a missionary with ties to Catonsville United Methodist Church (CUMC), where her father, Rev. Mark Waddell, had served as Pastor for 20 years. With expanded support from additional churches, many individuals, and several organizational donors across the area, Steps of Hope recently surpassed its $75,000 goal for Phase I of its capital campaign with the goal of building a new $200,000 Steps of Hope center.
