The Centennial Rotary Clock celebrates 100 years of Rotary service in Spartanburg.
Did you know there was a Rotary Clock downtown? And that is was dedicated for the 100 year anniversary of the Spartanburg Club?
Located at the corner of E. Main Street and Liberty Street, in downtown Sparanburg, the clock was dedicated in 2016.
The Rotary Club of Spartanburg, the second-largest and second-oldest Rotary club in the state, was chartered by Rotary International on April 1, 1916. It became the 215th club in the world organization, which now numbers over 35,000.
The plaque at the base of the clock states, "May this landmark serve as a reminder of the Club's dedication to the City of Spartanburg and Rotary International's commitment to
Service Above Self,
The Object of Rotary, and
The Four-Way Test."
